A little throw back to the days when little Italy was in its prime Florio’s is the essence of what is an Italian restaurant. Located in the back of Three Little Indians cigar shop, Florio’s is like your, or your friends, Italian grandma’s kitchen.
Offering classics like Shrimp Parmesan, Zuppa de Pesce, Pasta Fagioli, and Brasciole, Florio’s is so Italian that if they don’t offer it but you want it, and they have the means to make it, you’ll get it. Always a favorite stop of my family and I when we would visit Manhattan. This restaurant falls in the same category as Peter Lugers, you can’t argue with consistency. Florio’s hasn’t been around for 30 years because it isn’t something special. With all the new restaurants trying to produce things differently, there’s something to be said for a classic Italian family owned joint that just does the classics so right.
